Ron Paul Post Walk

Just a quickie report which doesn’t really doesn’t do justice to how great a day it was...It was the best Ron Paul support activity in LA to date. We had 72 people, at least 60% of the people were new and all were enthusiastic and full of love for Ron Paul, Freedom and the Constitution. We gave out thousands and thousands of pieces of literature and got lots and lots of honks and pedestrians and motorists alike telling us they support Ron Paul. It was amazing how many people already know and love Ron. We were blessed with cool, cloudy weather all day and even a light sprinkle to make us feel good. We chanted for Ron and Freedom the whole way. As we got to Beverly Hills, a radio station that I know called me and asked me if I could fill in for a host...so they put me on the air right then and there and we broadcast our walk and rally live! We passed the cell phone around and people told the listeners why they love Ron Paul. We got the Freedom Message out in person and remotely as well! Thank you all for attending! I find it hard to write down eloquently what a great day it was. Christopher Brannan shot about 4 hours of video with my camera today. We all took the bus back to Hollywood from Beverly Hills. We were having a good time chatting on the way back so I got distracted and LEFT MY VIDEO CAMERA ON THE BUS!About 10 minutes later I found a taxi and explained the situation to the driver. He’s like, come on, let’s find your camera. I get in and we are off to chase the bus down. It seems hopeless but I gotta try. We catch up to a bus. But wrong bus! It’s a male driver and the driver of the bus we were on was black female. The driver says the bus in front of him was a black woman driver. We drive like crazy and follow the bus through zigs and zags and missed turns and finally catch it....wrong bus! Black woman driver but not the right one! I almost give up. She says there is another bus a little ahead of her and it has a Black female driver as well. Well we are waaaaaay downtown LA by now and the meter is at 30.00 so I figure might as well try. I go back to the cab and the driver says sure let’s catch up the next bus...I’ll just stop the meter here. During this chase like out of a movie I was of course telling the driver about our walk and how we shot all this footage and Ron Paul and the Revolution...turns out he was a fan of Ronald Reagan, and I showed him the card with the picture of Ron and Ron. So I think that motivated him to help me out. So he stopped the meter and we went in search of the next bus. We’re driving and driving....no bus! I was just about to give up when finally off in the distance we see one. We catch up the bus and I run up to the door just as it’s pulling away...I bang on the door and she waves her hands and says no passengers! I say “I left my camera on the bus!” and her eyes go wide and she looks down and there’s the camera by her feet. She opens the door and tells me that someone turned it in just after I got off. I tell her we have been chasing the bus for miles and miles. I give her a big hug and thank her. I go back to the taxi hoisting the camera over my head in victory and the driver is shocked to see I have it. I start to gather my things and give him 35.00 including a tip planning in catching a bus back to Hollywood and he says no, no, I’ll take you back to Hollywood for free! And now he’s a Ron Paul supporter too!Moral of the story...if you really want something go out there and get it and don’t give up until you do!Here are some preliminary reports from other cities:

About the walk, all I can say is wow, freakin' wow! What a fantastic effort! I'm still hearing the shouts of "Ron Paul" echoing through the caverns of downtown. Yeah, our route took a few twists and turns, but it was all for the better. Watching you hand out lit with kids in tow was nothing more than inspiring.We had 52 people at the event out of 58 RSVP's! The percentage was fantastic, if not downright unheard of. What impressed me the most were meeting all the new members who took the time out of a Sunday afternoon on the week before Labor Day. Braving the heat, a couple of blistered bunyons, and representing the Paul Campign with professionalism and fire that may very well be the envy of this event. Okay, Chicago will probably blow us out of the water, because they have nine times the population. Still, I can't even begin to convey the pride I had for each one of you. I'm not sure of my footage, but with everyone's videotaping, I think there's some awesome material for YouTube and the like.BTW, I was told that the local FOX affiliate shot some footage after we disbanded. I don't know if they we're picking up on the Bearcat scanner about a group of rabid Ron Paul supporters marching through downtown, or if they just noticed us at the conclusion of that support our troops event downtown. We ended up having 10 people walk close to 5 miles!We even had some people join us on the last leg of our walk, these werepeople that we met in the plaza and started chatting with about Ron Paul. 1. Get Organized. We only have a week. If you don’t have an event planned for the 26th, throw something together right away and put it on your calendar. If you plan something and get the word out, most of the time people will just show up. If you already have another event previously planned, maybe consider adapting it in such a way as to make it an event associated with this national effort. Just go for it!
2. Spread the word! Take a look at the list of states. If your state is not on the list, please send an email (maybe use the text on the web page) to the meetup organizer’s and anyone you know in your state and get your state on board! If your state is on board, get involved with the group that is planning the activity. And please do outreach to the meetup organizers of the states adjacent to yours if they are not already on board. Thanks! Please take these actions right away. If you are not sure what to do or want to help with the outreach effort, email us at ronpaulradio@sbcglobal.net and we’ll get you started. And just email and call everyone you know and get them involved and get them to attend your activity! Also, try to get info about this event out on blogs, message boards and such.
3. Outreach to the Media. If you know how to do outreach to the national media, please let us know. We need someone to captain that effort. For this particular walk, we might do better to target local TV, radio and newspapers as well as blogs and online media. Develop a strategy for outreach to your local media for your group. A Press Release is being prepared and will be sent out for you to use.
4. Call it in to Ron Paul Radio. Call into Ron Paul Radio with Steven Vincent to report your plans and help build the energy for the event on the 26th. Call in number: 1-866-582-99335. Ideas? Got a great idea for the event or how to promote/organize it? Share it with us by email and/or call it in to the show and/or the teleconference on Tuesday.Suggestions-Call the Campaign HQ and request some of the great new “slim jims” that they have...the primary theme is “End the War!” and it is good general purpose material. -Try to have some signs and banners that refer to “Support for the Freedom Message” so we have a unified theme to our activities-Take lots of pictures and video for post event promotion. Let’s create and album/slide show and lots of YouTubes!-Write your own articles about your event and conduct your own audio/video interviews of participants and send these materials to the media. I just spoke to the campaign and they told me that if we get back to them with specifics about the event, then they will do their best to have the Dr. attend.So, here's the basic idea at this point.HUGE event - as many supporters as we can pull togetherNovember 11, 2007 (Veterans day). That seems like a really good date.PHILADELPHIA - also a good choice, in my opinion.What we need 1. Someone from the Philadelphia area to find out about permits, etc...2. A massive, and I do mean, MASSIVE, concerted effort to get the message out to every meetup group in the country as well as gun owners groups, 911 truthers, etc... etc... etc...We need to make this HUGE. A few thousand won't cut it.

I noticed the marchacrossamerica link in your bio-box. See, I live in Germany, in "K-Town" (properly: Kaiserslautern), as the Americans call it. We have Ramstein Air Base here, the US-Military Hospital and about 40K Americans. There is also a place called the Fisher House or Fischer Haus (don't know which spelling is used) - this is an institution, where the maimed soldiers reunite with their families for weeks or even months before they are transferred back to the States. One of the guys looking after the maimed is a Vietnam veteran, with no legs. He does marathons in support of the injured soldiers. I'll try to look him up - maybe, we can get you in touch with him.Also: The other night, we had an American friend with us ( I did not know him before) during a barbeque. I told him about liberty (never mentioning Ron Paul) - before taking his leave in the night, he asked for my e-mail address: "I've got something, you will enjoy," he said - it turned out, he was going to send me Ron Paul links. No matter, whom I talk to from the American community over here - they just love the RP-message - it is amazing, in 40 years I never witnessed such a degree of political cohesion among Americans in K-Town - along the lines of liberty.

Marathoners for Ron Paul?
I did my first Marathon last year in Washington DC (The Marine Corp Marathon), and this year (10/07/07) I will be running the Chicago Marathon.IDEA...An estimated 1.2 million spectators will line the streets for this year’s LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. I am thinking amongst the 35,000+ runners that come from all over the world - there must be a sizeable chunk supporting Ron Paul. How about a Pre or Post race Ron Paul Rally? Have the Chicago area Meet-Ups considered doing anything around the October 7th Chicago Marathon? How about the Meet-Up Groups in Washington DC, New York, Boston, etc.?

Great plans! We've got folks in KY who will walk (including me). In the tradition started by Kelly (Dover to Concord), we're planning a walk from Lexington to the state capital. I've been asking the following question around, so I'll ask here, too.Is it possible to have at least one person in all 50 states walk (from wherever) to their state capital on Sunday, September 2?
